EV Fires Pose Great Risk in the Following Locations
Charging Sites
EV fires during charging are not caused by charging itself. EVs spend much time plugged in, so fires can occur during that time.
Vehicle Parking Sites
Vehicles parked nearby can be protected with the proper protocols, preventing further propagation and buying time for first responders.
Repair Shops
Repair shops servicing EVs should have fire isolation protocols to contain incidents before first responders arrive. Damaged vehicles or batteries have a greater chance of ignition.
Mobile EV Chargers
Assisting drivers in accessing mobile charging options is an effective solution for alleviating range anxiety. Being equipped for emergencies while transporting large battery packs is imperative.
Some Best Practices for Electric Vehicle Fire Suppression
Burn Out
Letting the battery burn out safely may be possible, but this could take weeks.
Water Spray
Water cooling can slow and stop battery overheating, but it may take a few hours.
Water Submersion
Submerge the entire vehicle in water. Could cause re-ignition.
Fire Extinguisher & Aerosol
Special lithium extinguishers can be used to suppress the fire. Risk of re-ignition remains.

The Fire Isolator concept comprises three main components that deliver the best results to help control EV fires.
Fire Blanket
The Fire Isolator Blanket is the best way to control and isolate car fires for petrol and Electric Vehicles. The Car Fire Blanket will directly assist in containing the flames, smoke and toxic fumes. The blanket is temperature resistant up to 1600 °C.
Aerosol Units
Aerosol units provide a tested and proven way to interrupt the chemical chain reactions occurring in the lithium-ion battery fire and suppress the fire resulting in further temperature reduction.
Water Mist Lace
The Water Mist Lance sprays a ‘mist’ of water over the car with the blanket on. This keeps the temperature down and prevents excessive smoke development.

EV FIRE BLANKET
The FIRE⚡️ISOLATOR concept’ biggest visible asset is the FI-BL0906 Fire Blanket. This blanket isolates the fire and can handle (EV) car fires that reach temperatures of up to 1600 degrees Celsius.

Any EV car that catches fire, will probably need to end up submerged in water in a container. This brochure provides information on the dipping container.
